The process. Instructors explained that no plan is perfect, but also that this was the best identified method. Too many courses are led by the caveat that "it depends." This class gave clear method and steps and allowed us to focus on the process rather than the what-ifs.

The group activity. We already understood from the simulations these events are confusing. Not needed.

One of the better courses I have attended.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

A train the trainer course would be nice. Without having the whole department knowledgeable in this process, the incident command will likely not get established and ultimately be more chaotic than helpful.

While I recognize it is hard to balance the roles of EMS and fire, as a command officer it would have been more beneficial if i coould have served in command roles a little more. I drove ambulances 3 times, but yet never made it to the command post or area command.

Practical application, full scale drill.

The group activities and role playing was the most effective form of trainng used in this class because it both reinforced what i already know and it allowed me to use interoperability at a level that i am not often exposed to.

There was no part of this class that I found lacking in value. Each chapter of the book tied in with each role-playing exercise beautifully.

Keep including Dispatchers! We are an integral part of these Active Shooter Incidents but are often overlooked in training for them.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

As a dispatcher I am aware of my need for more hostage negotiation training and I will continue to press my supervisors for such training. I also would like to attend an ERT training session and follow one of the Conctact Teams as they do an entry/search.
