SSAVEIM Foundations™ is a free, 1-hour, on-demand online course from NCIER® (National Center for Integrated Emergency Response). Thirteen short videos walk through how an active shooter or violent attack at a school unfolds and how the response works, covering lockdown, the public safety response, and violent-event reunification.
Everyone who would be there on the day. On the school side that is teachers, office and front desk staff, principals and administrators, safety directors, training officers, bus drivers, support staff, school resource officers, and district leadership. On the response side it is law enforcement, fire and EMS, 911 dispatchers, public information officers, and emergency managers. It is free and open to all of them.
Under an hour in total, and nothing at all. It is 13 short modules taken on demand, so staff can finish between classes and responders between calls. You can stop after any module and pick up where you left off — no substitute teacher, no overtime, and no training day.
Foundations is free awareness that gets everyone to the same understanding. SSAVEIM Train-the-Trainer™ is the two-day in-person course where school staff and responders practice lockdown and reunification together on one shared plan, and your own people are certified to keep teaching it. Foundations is completed before day 1, so both training days go to scenarios instead of slides.
