Terrance Weems

Personal Profile

Terrance Weems was an original Problem Oriented Police Trooper from 1996-1998 until he was assigned the FBI/HIDTA GRIT Task Force. Once assigned to the Gaming Division, he investigated criminal incidents occurring on the riverboats in addition to ensuring the gaming facilities adhered to state gaming laws. After returning to the road in 2001, Terrance patrolled NWI before being assigned to the newly formed Motor Patrol in 2004. Later that year, he was promoted to squad leader of the north motor unit. In 2008, Terrance was promoted to First Sergeant, Assistant District Commander of the Lowell District. In 2024 Terrance was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant to be the ISP Lowell District Commander where he currently serves.

Terrance holds a B.A. in Sociology from Indiana University Northwest. In 2022, he was selected to attend and graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. His other trainings include the Indiana State Police Supervisor School, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety - Police Staff and Command, Reid School of Interview and Interrogation, Institute of Police Technology and Management Crash Reconstruction School, and the Northwestern University/Harley-Davidson Motor School.

Terrance is a part-time instructor involved with classroom training and simulation hands-on training. His many years in law enforcement help provide the police perspective in active shooter incident management training.

District Commander
Terrance started out as a District Road Trooper then moved through the ranks as an Assistant District Commander. He was promoted to District Commander in 2024 and is responsible for the seven counties in Northwest Indiana, Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton, Starke, and Pulaski. Throughout his tenure with ISP he has been responsible for investigating money laundering, illegal gambling, crimes committed, and other financial crimes. For 2 years he was assigned to the FBI's Gary Response Investigative Team that was part of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Initiative to enhance investigations leading to the disruption and dismantlement of the drug trafficking and money laundering organizations that use the Nation's highways as a means of transporting illegal drugs, currency, and other contraband and illicit commodities from one location to another.
