Stephen Shaw is currently an officer with Chapel Hill PD and holds many positions that are vital in keeping the community safe. He was a K-9 handler assigned to the patrol division for 7 years. He and Jax, the police dog, assisted in narcotics detection, tracking, and evidence recovery. For 2 years, he was a patrol supervisor overseeing and assisting all patrol personnel in handling serious incidents. He also is the Training Division Sergeant responsible for training new employees, on-going training and the Career Progression Program. He volunteers with S.E.R.T as a team leader, which is a unit that effectively responds to many different types of situations to ensure the safety of the community. He is the 2-time recipient of S.E.R.T Operator of the Year (2017, 2018).
