Kevin Nichols spent 30 years with the Pearland Police Department in Pearland, Texas. He began his career as a Telecommunications Officer and has moved up through the ranks from police officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. He was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2020. He has served as Commander of the Jail, Telecommunications, Records, and Animal Control units, as well as the Patrol Division and the SWAT team. Kevin is also an adjunct instructor for both ALERRT and NCBRT serving on development teams for programs from First Responder Medical Interventions Courses to Tactical Operations in a WMD Environment. Kevin holds a Master of Science in Security Studies, and a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management from Sam Houston State University. He is also a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas' Leadership Command College.

Assistant Chief
In his 28 years with the City of Pearland, Kevin served as Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. He supervised the Patrol and Criminal Divisions, coordinated police activity with Federal, State and Local agencies, managed the upgrade and refurbishment of the Communications Center and participated in the design and construction process of a new Animal Control and Adoption Center. During his tenure he also developed and implemented tactical response plans for large city events and began a program to deliver Civilian Response to Active Shooter curriculum to civilian city employees and civic groups.
