Practical evolutions.

Which part(s) of the course was LEAST valuable to you? Please explain why.

Case studies did not provide enough information for us to truly analyze and apply the checklist. Hot washing each evolution became unnecessary and a waste of time after the 6 or 7th evolution.

It would be great to have the instructors show us what each supervisor is supposed to do. Some instructors were great leaders and mentored us when put in a supervisor role. Others provided little instruction and valuable input.

The practical portion enhanced my understanding of real life logistical and communication issues that arise while responding to these events.

The lecture material took too long to cover, and there should have been fewer scenarios. After approximately 9-10 scenarios, myself and fellow participants were fatigued and stopped learning as much from each scenario that seemed too similar to the last. The content overall was appropriate, but could be condensed to avoid overwhelming and tiring participants out.

Maps, both in book and on the boards, should have better resolution. While we measured our improvement with time, our increased understanding of the computer system wasn't taken into account. The first morning introduction and discussion of web resources on the last day felt more like an infomercial than instructional information sharing.

Further multi-jurisdictional training within my region. A list of real-life events that have utilized your system and their outcomes would be a useful resource on your website.

I took the course as a dispatcher. I had field experience in medical and fire which was not utilized. I believe that it would be beneficial to allow dispatch time in each of the other fields to generate true interdiscipline understanding.

Staging familiarization is most helpful to Law Enforcement response.

PIO is a mostly useless position in these classes as most agencies have policies dictating who would operate in such a manner.

I think there should be more tactic training. New Jersey is clearly focusing on a management aspect which does not help the countless young officers in the positions actually responding. The state fails these officers by having little to no tactical training, I feel that the practical exercises should be conducted physically and not in a computer for an incident of this severity.
