Personal Profile

John Meizoso, a Captain with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, has held key positions in the Communications Division, the Terrorism Response Bureau, and with the Miami-Dade Police Department's Incident Management Team and Rapid Deployment Force - an elite joint-response unit for critical incidents and major events of national importance. His work has involved collaboration with local, state, federal, and international agencies to improve safety and security throughout South Florida.

John is an active member of Florida Task Force I Urban Search and Rescue and serves on FEMA's Incident Support Team as a Planning Team Manager, having deployed to major disaster responses including Hurricanes Katrina, Maria, and Ian. He has served in leadership roles during emergency activations and his command-level experience includes hurricane response operations, Super Bowl XLI, and the 2007 U.S. Coast Guard Unified Support Exercise.

2022 - Current, Bureau OIC - Airport Fire Prevention District: John collaborates with industry experts, oversees inspections, and manages plan reviews for airport construction projects. He researches alternative life safety systems and applies his working knowledge of the Life Safety Code, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and State Fire Marshal regulations. 2010 - Current, Fire Captain: John oversees battalion operations, managing firefighting and emergency medical rescue teams. He directs personnel and resources at major incidents, provides guidance for rescue operations, and develops comprehensive training programs. 2012 - 2015, Special Assignment Captain, Communications Division: John managed large-scale projects, including radio deployments, system upgrades, and training programs for over 1,500 personnel. He worked closely with county agencies while developing key interagency partnerships. 2008 - 2009, Bureau OIC - Terrorism Response: While assisting with the development of the Bureau along with its SOPs and P&Ps, John responded to major incidents and fostered collaboration with law enforcement.
