Donald "Don" Tuten entered the law enforcement profession as a Patrol Officer in 1989 with the Orange Park Police Department. In 1993, Don transitioned his career to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office with two promotions (Sergeant & Lieutenant), and two staff appointments (Assistant Chief & Chief). Don currently served as Chief of the Homeland Security, Narcotics/Vice & Special Operations Division, and lies 4th in the rank command with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office; a 3,850 person agency and the nation's 25th largest police department.
Don has earned a master's degree in Executive Leadership and Criminal Justice Education and is a graduate of the 264th session of the FBI's National Academy, the 42nd session of the FBI National Executive Institute, as well as the 66th session of the Senior Management Institute for Police (Boston, MA). Don holds a Top Secret w/ SCI clearance through the Department of Justice and is a credentialed member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Don was responsible for a budget of approximately $40 million and the management of 250 civilians, investigators and special operations personnel. He oversaw all undercover operations with the Sheriff's Office. In his time with the JAX SO he has also served as a Patrol Officer, Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Assistant Chief - Homeland Security/Special Operations, Assistant Chief - Zone 1 Commanding Officer, and Chief - Support Services and Logistical Support.
